The Hoppy Poppy IPA and the Hoppy & Poppie PinkCheeks brands have more in common than you might think! Here are 3 surprising commonalities.
We notice that when people google search us, they frequently type Poppy with a “y” instead of Poppie with an “ie.” As we humans love shortcuts, Hoppy’s and Poppie’s last name, PinkCheeks, is frequently left off as well. A quick Google search of “Hoppy Poppy” reveals a lot about a delicious IPA and nothing about our friendly grasshoppers, Hoppy & Poppie PinkCheeks. So I was curious (more about that later) and visited https://www.figmtnbrew.com/catalog/core/hoppy-poppy-ipa to learn more about this beer with a name I’m fond of. I want to share some fun and interesting commonalities with you!
1. Due to the pandemic, I, like most folks, do much more ordering online. When I visited Figueroa Mountain’s home page: https://www.figmtnbrew.com/ it was an ah ha moment. Feb. 18th, was my son’s last day to be 32 and as no surprise, he is fond of a good IPA. So guess what one of his birthday gifts was? Yup, a delivery of Hoppy Poppy IPA at his doorstep. Visitors of https://calminyourpalm.wpengine.com/ also see that the Hoppy & Poppie PinkCheeks children’s books and toys are special birthday gifts that can also be ordered online and delivered at the birthday girl’s or boy’s front doorstep.
2. Another commonality is that Hoppy Poppy IPA and Hoppy & Poppie PinkCheeks are both birthed from the inspiration of nature. From the Figueroa Mountain website, here’s what the #FigFam says about their IPA: “Inspired by the poppies growing on Figueroa Mountain, this IPA features Cascade, Columbus, and Centennial hops. Bursting with a floral bouquet and notes of citrus and pine, Hoppy Poppy® is a balanced IPA for any beer lover.” From the Hoppy Poppie PinkCheeks website, here’s what we say about the Hoppy & Poppie PinkCheeks brand: “The setting is Bug Island, an enchanting place full of imagination, inspired by her [that’s me] home state of Colorado. The main characters are twin grasshoppers, Hoppy & Poppie PinkCheeks. They explore and share their Bug Island home with Queen Betty Bee, Chief Franco Firefly, Maestro Humphrey Hummingbird, King Walt Worm, Aunt Andie Ant, Dr. Spinner Spider, Patoo, the flying blanket, and more.”
3. Lastly, the specific names of Poppy and Poppie, are both inspired by the beautiful poppy flower. Just like the brightly colored blooms abound in California, home of the IPA, https://www.figmtnbrew.com/blog/rough-drafts/post/hoppy-poppy-inspiration, the energetic poppies also abound in Breckenridge and Boulder, CO, home of Hoppy & Poppie PinkCheeks. We feel much gratitude for the beauty of our natural world and we never grow tired of learning more about nature and the importance of insects in our ecosystem. Poppie teaches young children the Emotional Intelligence skill of curiosity and we felt sure that Poppie would be happy having poppies be the inspiration for her name. And we must have been right because she wears them daily at the base of her antennae! As seen on our “Characters” page: https://calminyourpalm.wpengine.com/characters/, “Poppie PinkCheeks is all about Discovery! Alongside her spunky twin Hoppy, she uses her buggy brilliance to uncover all she can about Bug Island and beyond.”
As a certified Emotional Intelligence coach, I encourage myself and others to get curious and explore further and deeper, especially in areas we find ourselves more aware of differences than commonalities. What unexpected outcomes have you experienced practicing the skill of curiosity?
